
The German Government Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab Programme is based on a collaboration
agreement between the Witwatersrand University (Wits), the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and the
Technische Universität Berlin (TUB).
This collaboration aims to aid in the implementation of the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
and the 2016 New Urban Agenda (NUA) in the Sub-Saharan African continent.

Scholarship Specifics:
As part of a “Urban Paradigm Shift,” the New Urban Agenda (NUA) specifically advocates for integrated
approaches to urban planning and administration. It acknowledges the importance of institutional
capacity development as a key “enabling condition.”
The Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab contributes by offering a ‘Postgraduate SDG School’ in the School of
Architecture and Planning at Wits (a leading university on this continent), in close collaboration with the
Habitat Unit at TUB and the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development at UNILAG.
Scholarship Requirements:
To be considered for the scholarship, you must do the following:
This call is accessible to applicants from countries other than South Africa in Sub-Saharan Africa.
A separate appeal for South Africans will be made available soon.
A proof of application for assessment of their degrees by the South African Qualifications Authority
(SAQA) must be provided to the scholarship application for all applicants whose highest degree was not
attained in South Africa.
